Odds and Ends

basted and some sweet messages
A finish! I stumbled across a charm pack or two of Moda's Odds and Ends at my LQS. And I have to say, I was really taken by it. It's not what I would normally gravitate to, color-wise. But I think it's utterly charming, especially these cute little guys and gals all dressed up.
how sweet are these cutie patooties?
I paired it with a charm packs of Butter Pecan I purchased as the Daily Deal at MSQC
a nice crisp seam intersection
I decided that the antique y-ness of Butter Pecan went perfectly with the soft colors in Odds and Ends. The old fashioned, gently aged color scheme just begged to become a simple patchwork. Originally that's all the top was, simple patchwork squares.
basting is my least favorite part, but it looks so nice when it's done
Happily, I did not finish the top. And it languished for a bit in my sewing room. Why happily? Because I happened upon some Odds & Ends yardage that was on sale for $4. I snatched up what was left on the bolts and added some boarders!
thanks Mr. C for being my quilt holder
I had only a limited amount of the green children print fabric, but luckily just enough to straighten it and add it to the top and bottom of the patchwork. I used the cream letters to boarder the whole quilt, and the green letters print for the backing and binding. I wanted to keep the quilting fairly simple, so SITD, straight line diagonals, and stippling in the white boarder finished the job nicely. And it looks great on the daybed in my sewing room!

Best,
CC

  1. Such a light and cute quilt. Nicely finished. Visiting from Confessions of a Fabric Addict.
